Fitting a Sling: What You Need to Know
One of the most common questions we get is about fitting a sling correctly and comfortably. There are generally two types we use: a standard black sling and a grey version with a pillow or bolster for added support. Both types are designed to be worn comfortably and can be machine-washed just make sure to air dry them afterwards.
The black sling model features two clips that allow for easy, one-handed operation, making it more convenient to put on and take off independently.
When fitting your sling, start with the back strap which should go around your neck with the padded part at the back of your neck to avoid pressure points and discomfort. Your elbow should be cradled securely in the sling, tucked right into the corner, similar to how you’d gently cradle a child.
The fit should feel snug but not tight. Your arm should be supported without any pinching, rubbing, or awkward angles. If anything feels uncomfortable, adjust the straps or let your care team know, a properly fitted sling makes a big difference in your comfort and recovery.
