June is not an unusual time for footballers to be recuperating from major surgeries, and so it is the case for an old St Kilda star who was the celebrity patient at Calvary Adelaide Hospital two weeks ago.
Robert Muir spent the latter stages of his league career casually windmilling a dislocated shoulder back into place. Now he effectively has a new one thanks to life-changing surgery in May.
With typical understatement, Muir says: “It’s still a little bit sore, but it’s coming along fine.”
He’s slowly recuperating from a reverse shoulder reconstruction, completed with the generous assistance of the public and the support of the AFL Players’ Association (AFLPA).
