Wound Dressing Care After Surgery

One of the most common questions we receive is how to care for your surgical wounds and take care of the wound dressing.

After keyhole surgery, you may have 4–5 small wounds. When you wake up, your arm will be in a sling and the wounds will be covered with waterproof dressings. These dressings can be kept on while showering, but please avoid submerging them in baths or pools.

Your dressings and stitches will be removed at your first post-operative appointment. Until then, it is important that the wounds remain covered and clean.

If water does get under a dressing, remove it and replace the inner layer with a clean band-aid.
